Drew McDowall is releasing a new album via Dais Records on September 18th.
The label describes Agalma as the Coil member's "least industrial outing to date." The title comes from the ancient greek word for a votive offering, and McDowall says the album was inspired by "the intersection of joy, terror, and the elegiac... that 'what the fuck is going on' feeling." He also says that it was originally called Ritual Music, meant to frame the collaborative process in "ceremonial terms."
Agalma is a heavily collaborative album, featuring Robert Aiki Aubrey Lowe, Kali Malone, Caterina Barbieri, MSYLMA, Maralie Armstrong-Rial, Bashar Suleiman and Elvin Brandhi.
