Three key Mort Garson albums from the '70s, as well as a compilation of rare and unreleased material, are out this fall on Sacred Bones Records.
The major reissue campaign follows the success of the RA-recommended reissue of Garson's 1976 private-press LP, Mother Earth's Plantasia. The newly remastered titles include Music From Patch Cord Productions, a collection of rare and unreleased recordings from Garson including "never-aired radio advertisements, themes for science fiction films, erotic oddities and much more from the prolific composer's '60s and '70s synthesizer oeuvre."
The dive into Mort Garson's '70s discography also includes a newly remastered vinyl reissue of Garson's OST for Didn't You Hear. Garson's Moog-heavy soundtrack for Skip Sherwood's 1970 movie was one of the first all-electronic film scores and was originally available only in the theater lobby after screenings of the movie in Seattle. Sacred Bones will also reissue Garson's album as Lucifer, Black Mass, an occult-themed 1971 LP, as well as his 1975 full-length as Ataraxia, The Unexplained, on which he explored supernatural tropes like tarot, astral projection and seances via the synthesizer.
