  • Jesse Osborne-Lanthier is releasing his next album through Haunter Records on September 8th. The Montreal artist worked on the LP for over five years. He first started working on Left My Brain @ Can Paixano (La Xampanyeria) OST during a trip to Barcelona, where he would eat every day at the restaurant mentioned in the album title, creating music that was more lighthearted and humourous than normal. Then, after his mother's death 2016, he revisited the material and found that "the sarcasm, self-effacing humour and proficient technicality he’d found so funny originally was now just a mask for insecurity and sadness," according to the press release. The album features those original recordings reworked and processed beyond recognition. It also boasts contributions from like Marie Davidson, v1984 and Asaël Robitaille. Check it out on Bandcamp here. You can watch the video for the first single, "Catchment Areas (Spiritual Pollution)," which was filmed in the basement of the Macao nightclub in Milan, below. Of the video, Osborne-Lanthier says:
Originally, I was meant to be in Milan during the duration of the filming, but COVID-19 meant that we had to cancel my IRL involvement. Therefore, the process of tending to the decaying still-life fell solely to Daniele Guerrini, myself being only able to participate via FaceTime or text. Finding solace in the project during Italy’s peak pandemic crisis, the video created an odd loop, whereby Guerrini took care of the mushrooms, which took care of the rats and bugs, all of which took care of Guerrini.
