Gqom Oh! is releasing an album from long-time gqom producer Griffit Vigo.
Vigo is one of the longest-running producers in the South African genre, with a career that stretches back to 2004. He's often considered one of the progenitors of the style.
I Am Gqom features eight new tracks from Vigo along with a remastered version of "Rees Vibe," his most popular track, originally released in 2018. It also comes with a visual concept conceived with artist Mikael Calandra Achode, inspired by Zulu culture: "Compounds known as Kraals would act as the homestead, a site for ritual worship and a defensive position for the King and his family. Griffit Vigo aims to create a metaphoric Kraal through music, for himself, the listener and the new generation of gqom."
