  • The annual 33&1/3 Breakbeat BBQ returns again on 1 January 2006 at the Esplanade Hotel in St Kilda, Melbourne. This NYD event will have more breats, breaks, and drum'n'bass on offer than you can handle, with the running time of the event extended by an extra two hours, taking the party from a cruisey 12 noon kick off through to a messy and mad 3AM! Cheap and nasty tickets have now gone on sale for the party and won't last long once word of the lineup gets around. RA breakbeat favourite Ils will be making his first trip downunder to treat us to all the songs we love from his latest album Bohemia and hopefully some old favourites too. He is one of the international headliners alongside the Stanton Warriors' Dominic B, Andy Smith, Fresh, Shimon and Splitloop. Melbourne punters love their local DJs and given that there will be almost 50 of them playing at the Espie on NYD, your favourite breaks or d'n'b DJ is most likely to be there. Local lads on decks include Lynt, Brewster B, Lucas Chan, Khalil, Ransom, JPS, Sean, Kombat Bass, Lex, Hans DC, Obliveus, Feigan, Blueprint (live) and many more. If you've been to previous 33&1/3s at the Espy, you know it can be a bit crowded in the courtyard, and stuffy and hot in the Gershwin Room. The organisers have assured us that things will be improved this time around with the Espy freshly renovated having two new audio areas on offer, more space, better traffic flow and thankfully the installation of more male and female toilets.
