  • Live electronic act Infusion, will be breaking out from a recent studio recess to play the Ultra Music Festival at the WMC. This year,Infusion has only one date in Miami at the eighth edition of the Ultra Music Festival. The gig will be the start of a six week US tour culminating with an appearance at the Coachella Festival. As expected, the guys are immensely looking forward to their Ultra gig and, for once, their hotel. Infusion's Jamie Stevens explains, "I think this is the first year where we really have not got a crappy hotel to stay at. Each year all our friends are put up at the Shore Club or the Delano or Victor or some similarly 'billowing curtains' style hotel where we get told by the security to piss off if we even look at the entrance. This year we actually have air conditioning and a working elevator and a pool at our hotel and we've only got one gig, so it means some time out for us and an opportunity to catch up with our friends." Earlier this year, the trio returned to the studio and began working on some new material for their next album, which they hope to complete and possibly release, towards the end of the year. While no tracks have been completed yet, Stevens says, they're "concentrating on just getting as many demos in the works as possible" and, thankfully, are not working under pressure to a fixed release date like their last album 'Six Feet Above Yesterday'. What percentage of their set at Ultra will be new material, we'll just have to wait and see, but explains Stevens, "We run a totally improvised set and change what we play every single time. It depends on the audience, our mood and what works on the night. I guess we're heading towards a tougher sound in general, but because we jam over the top, adding in drum fills and Manuel and Frank sing spontaneously and play keyboards etc - it can end up sounding like anything." Aside from finally taking the plunge and switching to Mac from PC, Stevens adds, "We don't have any major new pieces of gear - our trusty live set up has remained the same for a long time, but we are tending to use more and more live instrumentation." Infusion play the eighth installment of the Ultra Music Festival at Bicentennial Park along with a host of big name DJs including Danny Tenaglia, Richie Hawtin, Carl Cox, Danny Howells and many more on March 25th, 2006.
