  • Bristol festival Simple Things cancelled Giant Swan's appearance over the weekend after allegations surfaced online against the duo's Robin Stewart. The festival announced the decision on Instagram last Friday, February 23rd, hours before Giant Swan were due to play at Bristol Beacon. "All parties have come to the conclusion it wouldn't be appropriate for them to perform at Simple Things," the post read. Stewart has since posted a statement to Instagram confirming that Giant Swan has been "paused indefinitely." Harry Wright, the other half of Giant Swan, echoed these sentiments on Instagram Stories. The decision followed a post on X by fellow Bristol artist PMS Casualty last Thursday, February 22nd. Stewart's former partner, she accused him of verbal abuse, infidelity, ignoring sexual consent and neglecting her care while she was recovering from cancer, among other things. "Robin has continued to use narcissistic, manipulative tactics with me," the post read. "He's been cavalier with my well-being, my mental health and my safety. I've finally come to the conclusion that I must stop protecting him, and realised that my silence is benefitting no one but him. No amount of context makes any abuse acceptable." Giant Swan were replaced on the lineup by SCALER (FKA SCALPING). Wright also performed solo as Mun Sing. Returning for its tenth edition in 2024, Simple Things will run across various venues until this Thursday 29th. Read the post from Simple Things and Giant Swan in full.
