  • Swedish singer-songwriter Neneh Cherry is publishing a memoir. Out on October 3rd via Penguin Books, A Thousand Threads charts the artist's rise to fame and the moments that shaped her, exploring themes such as trauma, addiction and love. It also details her lineage as a third-generation artist in a successful musical family. "I'm really happy and slightly terrified to announce that I've written a book," she wrote on Instagram. "It's taken a long time to get here—at times, like giving birth—and it's certainly a strange feeling to know that this will be in the world soon." Cherry got her start performing in the '80s London punk scene. She was part of several bands, including The Slits, New Age Steppers and Rip Rig + Panic. She became a solo artist in 1982 and in 1989 released her debut album, Raw Like Sushi. She's since put out five studio LPs—her latest, The Versions, landed in 2022.
