  • If you are not a money-machine, you can´t make it in Ibiza. Damian Lazarus and Michael Mayer’s experiment to bring their London Stink parties to Ibiza has failed with the night closing three weeks into the summer season. Lineups at Stink included the best of European minimal house such as Michael Mayer, Ivan Smagghe, Roman Flugel, Jennifer Cardini and Dominik Eulberg. But the nights didn’t succeed where it counts, in the pocketbook of the club owners, and management have decided to cut their losses by pulling the plug on the rest of the season. Spokesmen from Kompakt and Crosstown Rebels express disappointment at the decision to close the residency, which was to run Friday Nights at DC-10 until September 8th. Successful residencies on Ibiza are notoriously difficult to pull off with competition being tough and profit-driven club management being unforgiving if the numbers don’t arrive through the doors. Previously, DC-10 opened only Monday mornings for Circo Loco and Wednesday nights for Timo Maas’ residency, and the experiment to expand to three nights a week hasn’t paid off with both punters and management expressing disappointment at the low turnouts. “Stink apologises to those who have made plans to come party with us during the rest of the summer in Ibiza,” Kompakt told RA. “However, Stink will be back at its real home at the T-Bar in London on October 9th. See you all then!” The Monday night parties at the T-Bar in Shoreditch are free.
