  • At least 29 people have been killed and several more injured following a fire at Istanbul's Masquerade Club. The incident occurred while renovation work was being undertaken on the venue earlier today, April 2nd, The Daily Mirror reported. All of those who died are believed to be construction workers. Police detained five people for questioning, including managers of the club and one person in charge of the renovation. "May God have mercy on our citizens who lost their lives," Istanbul mayor Ekrem İmamoğlu said on X. "And I wish a speedy recovery to our injured." The 1000-capacity Masquerade Club is located in the Beşiktaş area of the city. Its music policy spans house, hip-hop and R&B. We'll report more on this story as it unfolds.
