Each week RA scours the web for the best online radio shows, podcasts and downloadable sets. This week: Roger Sanchez, Cio D'or and Radio Ibiza....
August 05, 2006. Radioactivity is a weekly roundup of the best radio shows, podcasts and downloadable sets online. Time to hook the computer up to the stereo?
Radio 1 in Ibeefa: It seems not every residency in Ibiza this summer is turning out the way expected (see Stink fails in Ibiza) but you can catch two of the longest-running and most successful ones on the radio this week. Each day this week Radio 1 will broadcast live from venues in Ibiza including Space, Amnesia, Pacha and Cafe Mambo. Tune in Tuesday August 8, 1.00 a.m. - 03.00 a.m. GMT to hear Andre Galluzzi and Sven Vath live from Cocoon at Amnesia or Wednesday August 9, 1.00 a.m. - 3.00 a.m. for Carl Cox and John Digweed at Space. Check the full program details here.
Spectral showcase: Ryan Elliott wowed audiences at Sonar this year, but those who missed the action can check out another label showcase at the Spectral site on which Elliott splices together new tracks on the label from Audion, Bodycode, AM/PM, Ellen Allien and Sami Koivikko. Download the mix here. It’s part of an ongoing Spectral podcast series, which is more than worth a subscribe.
This is Houston: Jeffrey Mac from of all places Houston delivers a mix titled Meditations that’s perfectly sequenced for 74 minutes, just the right length for a CD (which is what it should be it’s so good). Putting his commercial cousins to shame, Jeffrey serves up a delicious mix of Serafin, the new Booka Shade, the Field, a dollop of prog trance, as well more than a few hot new tracks that we can’t quite recognise but must own. My Bleep vs. Silent Shout – genius! Tracklist please! [via ilx.wh3rd.net]
Ching ching: Harder techno fans would do well to tune into Ben Sims and Chris Finke’s monthly two-hour radio show on Split Radio. The latest show is downloadable here and features charts, guest mixes, new and classic music plus they’ve got a year’s worth of downloadable shows in the archive to catch up on. Nice.
Another Sanchez: It's been five years since Roger Sanchez released the crossover house anthem 'Another Chance' and the album it was taken from 'First Contact'. On September 11, Sanchez will finally release the follow-up album 'Come with Me'. For fans of the S-Man who can't wait another month, Sanchez has prepared a special podcast where you can hear songs from the album and hear him talk about making the longplayer. Just subscribe to the podcast and grab the update next week.
Bleepcrash: You might know the name Cio D’or from her co-production this year with Gabriel Ananda ‘Lauschgoldengel’ and she’s got a new mix for d/l at her site you can save to your hard drive. Bleepcrash22 slots nicely into that Germanic trance-not-trance that Karma Rouge is making famous. As her press puts it: “Cio D’or was moved by dance and percussion instruments already before her first ovulation.” Well! [via the excellent earplug zine]
There you have it. If you have any links to fantastic music which you want to share with the world, post them in the forum or send 'em along to [email protected] with the subject line ‘Radioactivity’.
