  • Kim Ann Foxman and Cora were attacked in Berlin over the weekend. The two artists—who are also a couple—shared their experience via Foxman's Instagram on Saturday, April 6th, detailing an unprovoked attack that took place in the Thielenbrücke area on Friday, April 5th. "We were blissfully in our own world debating where to go for our anniversary dinner when a young woman walking past us reached out and grabbed Cora's crotch, completely unprovoked," the post read. "When Cora turned around to confront the woman, asking why she touched her, without pause, the woman immediately lunged at Cora, throwing punches to her face." A second person then attacked Foxman. "The younger woman was walking with a younger man, who joined in on the confrontation as soon as I attempted to defend Cora," the post continued. "I was beaten to the ground by both of them. Now, on the ground, they proceeded to kick me in the back and legs [...] A day later, Cora and I are still discovering new bruises from the three different times we were pinned to the ground and beaten." According to Foxman, the fact that her and Cora are "a visibly affectionate queer Asian female couple" was the primary reason for the attack. "From the moment that woman placed her hands on Cora in a sexual manner, it was undoubtedly linked to our sexual identity," she commented below the post. "That's why we feel like a police report isn't enough, and furthermore, those systems uphold the injustices that made us vulnerable to begin with. Our queer, rave and Asian communities need to hear from us directly. Please be extra careful out there." Read the full post. We'll continue to report on this story as it unfolds.
