- "It's electronic music inspired by old soul, funk, reggae and hip-hop, incorporating lots of live elements," says Migs of his second album.
Salted Music chief and West Coast house ambassador Miguel Migs draws on soul, funk and live instruments on his second longplayer 'Those Things'.
Migs debut album 'Colorful You' (2002) was noted as much for its sun-drenched vocals and summery house grooves as it was for its forays into less clubby sounds such as nu jazz, dub and RnB. Follow up album 'Those Things' also delves into more musical territory, including live instruments such as trumpets, congas and guitars as well as vocals from Fred Ross from Sly and the Family Stone, Sadat X from Brand Nubian and frequent Migs' collaborator Lisa Shaw.
"'Those Things' represents an open-minded spectrum that can have multi-meaning and definition. It's electronic music inspired by old soul, funk, reggae and hip-hop incorporating lots of live elements," says Migs, who started out as a guitarist in a dub/reggae band.
