  • Detroit techno legends Derrick May and Stacey Pullen head south for the Signal festival next month. Signal is an electronic music event happening this April in Chapel Hill, North Carolina. The three-day musical program of open-air performances, club nights and afterparties promises to bring techno and electronics to North Carolina with big names in house (Donald Glaude), techno (Derrick May, Stacey Pullen), hip hop (Souls of Mischief, Masta Ace) and experimental/IDM (Richard Chartier from Raster-Noton) spinning at various venues around town. There's also a long list of local DJs and live acts confirmed, so if you're in the vicinity, check it out. The festival will also host free workshops on subjects such as music production, software and DJing and will open with a forum titled 'Techno – A Black American Art Form' lead by keynote speaker Derrick May, who knows his way around an entertaining speech or two. Signal Festival takes place in Chapel Hill, North Carolina on April 26-28.
