  • Oz Modular fans will be sulking as two major tours down under get the chop. New Young Pony Club were set to hit up Australia in late August on the back of their ‘Fantastic Playroom’ album, but that’s off the cards now. The group has been shortlisted for the 2007 Mercury Music Prize, and the commitment of sticking around London for the ceremony trumps the Aussie tour. Word has it they'll re-schedule soon. To add insult to injury, the Klaxons, who were set to play Sydney, Melbourne and Perth (they nearly sold out Perth – not an easy feat), have had to pull the tour as Jamie Reynolds has fractured his ankle. The singer & bassist had a bit of a rock n rave moment: jumping off the stage at the Angouleme Festival in France on the weekend and misjudged his landing. Word from the hospital bed: "This one goes out to the good people of Australia as you're going to be the ones mainly affected by today’s news.... The doctors say that if I spend the next two weeks with the foot elevated then there is a chance of a recovery without further complications.” Klaxons were also set to play as headliners at Spendour in the Grass next weekend, but they have been replaced by Hot Chip. Tickets for the August dates will be refundable and transferable for re-scheduled shows.
