The team behind Fabric are opening a new venue, Matter, in The Millenium Dome this September.
Given the vastness of The Dome, now renamed O2 and rebranded as an entertainment complex, it comes as no surprise that Matter will be a large scale venture. The venue will have its own entrance on the banks of the Thames and plans to host live gigs as well as club nights. Indie band The Wombats have been confirmed as an early booking.
Fabric are stressing that Matter is a completely separate venture to their flagship Farringdon club, and there is no word on what really matters yet: music policy. But given the size of existing clubs in the Dome—the O2 Arena is a massive arena, and IndigO2 has a capacity of 2,300—we’re forecasting Matter will focus on big names and big draws.
