- The Innervisions DJ has taken his popular night to the newest club in Berlin.
Dixon's monthly Innercity night at Berlin's ever-popular Weekend club finished in January 2008 with a special "thank you" promo mix. And ever since then, the question for many has been, "Where to from here?" The answer, starting later this month is Badlands.
While there had been rumours of a move to Berlin's more musically-focused audience at Tape earlier in the year, Dixon is instead launching at the more intimate Badlands, which opened mere weeks ago.
RA talked to the DJ about the change in venue: "I stopped Innercity at Weekend because after 3 years running the night there everything was said. I had an amazing time there and it was a great experience to play for 1200 people every month.... [Badlands] is smaller than Weekend and that gives me more freedom to play what I feel like."
As Weekend continues to draw revelers who know it only by its reputation and care little for the music—and Badlands hoping to draw the exact audience Weekend is putting off—it'll be interesting to see how this move works, as much for Innercity, as for Badlands itself.
