A consummate house artist discusses his drive.
Kerri Chandler is one of the greatest house producers of all time. His music is both meticulously crafted and emotionally charged. That's partly due to his skill as a producer, but it's also to do with where he gets his inspiration. His music comes from a remarkably personal place, with both personal tragedy and joy informing his productions. In many ways his career in music was preordained. The son of a notable New Jersey DJ and the grandson of a jazz singer, Chandler was surrounded by records since birth. But it's been his drive and humility that's kept him relevant. He's one of only a handful of acts as comfortable behind the decks of DC-10 as he is at heritage events like Southport Weekender. With Chandler reaching his 25th year in dance music, he and Stephen Titmus discussed the experiences that have shaped his life as a house music legend.
