We hear from the techno innovator making fascinating large-scale art works.
Dasha Rush has been at the forefront of techno for over a decade, but there is and always has been much more to her work than what you might hear on the dance floor. In recent years, the Russian artist has been busy with interdisciplinary projects that present a much grander vision than can be contained on a single release, even while finding time to produce and perform in club contexts, too. So although she's still putting out 12-inches of vortex-like techno and maintaining a demanding schedule of live shows and DJ sets, there's a whole other part of her artistic identity being expressed with digital art, sound design, image mapping, choreography, poetry and more.
When she came by RA's Berlin office last week, she offered an insight into the nuts and bolts of balancing these two worlds as well as shedding light on the logistics and processes behind conceiving and executing such complex works.
