If you like to be taken deep, have your head messed with a bit and even get some funk thrown in for good measure, this is for you.
The collaboration doesn't stop with Lavell and Shadow's reunion, one of British hiphop's biggest successes, Roots Manuva, is also drafted in to add his special touch (although for those not so keen on the vocal, the 12" offers a dub version).
So, the tune... A minimal, late night groove underlies the hip-hop sensibilities of well-used vocal samples, cut-up organic breaks and precise beat programming.
GDMFSOB (god-damn-motherf***in-son-of-a-bitch) is mischievous and has grown on me with each play - at first I thought it might not have enough fire in its belly to really have an impact on the dancefloor, but there is a place in anyone's record box for a well-constructed, unique tune like this.
And if that hasn't tempted you, then the package contains some of DJ Shadow's latest work and let's face it, he really is a producer worth his weight in gold.
