The first of two reworkings of "Mello" by BLM finds the Fear Of Flying label head taking it into deliberately lo-fi territory. Sounding like the jack-in-the-box rhythm's being played out on a blown speaker, BLM adds in tough kicks, leaving just traces of the original's smooth pads. BLM's digital-only rerub incorporates undulating synth swells, galloping percussion and hints of classic garage in the rhythm track.
Of two other Chamboché productions, "Show It" storms into a warehouse party with bags of FX, delay and a rumbling acid bassline, while "Perpetual Motion" summons up the spirit of Marshall Jefferson's "Move Your Body" and transplants it into some intricately patterned, deep, sunset house. An EP of intelligent, quality house music.
