  • Bionikworld are a fresh live act from Australia consisting of two lads by the name of Caine and T-rek. Their debut album, Preset 001, is already out in stores, and this EP showcases the exciting nature of this act. $quality tracks on 1 piece of plastic. Firstly on the a-side is Welcome To Bionikworld (Ransom Mix). Ransom slows the pace and delivers a journey of smooth beats and flowing vocals, combined with some nice guitar riffs. The track maintains a smooth flow throughout with no real fluctuation, but remains quite interesting throughout. One for the more hip hop inspired fans. Secondly on the a-side is Schwingin (Nick Thayer Remix). The track begins with quite a funky edge with cut up vocals and a subtle saxophone riff, however, the rest of the track takes a different approach. A deep and almost driving baseline takes control as the beats gain intensity. Some funky signs from the start filter in and out, especially in the breakdown midway, but it is an arpeggiated synth that gives the track an extra edge deep into the production. The track then really takes off in the second half, and it does so in great style with all the elements finally building towards the climax. Solid remix from Nick Thayer. On the flip is firstly Party Favours (Bionikworld Remix). This I must say is a delicious and quite quirky production. The drums are bouncy and the bleepy electro melody is very clever. Vocals then come in and out as another melody enters the track spicing it up a bit. It progresses at quite a nice and not too overwhelming pace, and is a great upbeat production. Quality. Secondly on the flip is Party Favours (Dee Dee Remix). Dee Dee speeds the pace a bit and really makes this a chunky and dark affair. The drums are upbeat and the dark drubbing baseline is very evil. The vocal rides the production quite well, and it is quite interesting how a smooth and happy vocal intertwines with a really dark and driving production. It works very well mind you. The arrangement remains quite similar throughout with the occasional breakdown, but this will no doubt appeal to those who like theior music dark with a very dirty baseline. A solid release, with the b-side in particular delivering some quality sounds. Be sure to check out this new Aussie talent.
