House Not House Vol 2 mixed by Ingo Sanger

  • House not house? Sounds like a contradiction, and in some ways it is, as this compilation is a cut above your standard early evening bar soundtrack. It scores highly in a selection of hard to find material, and the inclusion of artists on the verge of breaking through from the underground. The opening trio is as fine a selection of deep house as you could hope to hear, with Lanoiravide's Waitin' going cool thanks to Charles Webster, and Peter Green's guest turn on Chris Coco's 'Albatross' given a timeless quality by King Britt in one of his finest remix moments. The groove then begins to take hold with Rednose Distrikt and an excellent untitled track from Black Joy. Ame, a new name from the Sonar Kollektiv label, adds some toe tapping funk with the robotic 'Hydrolic Dog', leading into the distinctive vocals of Shaun Escoffery, his rich tones complementing DJ Spinna's backing for 'Music In Me'. Ingo Sanger, whose mixing is often barely perceptible, closes with more deep material from Amp Fiddler and Soul Glow. This is a deep compilation to die for, and a must buy for those after hours moments. It's also a great way of prolonging the European summer!
