The Yousef Dub isn’t that dubby to begin with. The vocal harmony backing is still present with only the main vocals lost. It also seems to lack any real solid bass line for a good 2 minutes of the track, however once the track winds up and hits the drum-ridden breakdown, Yousef lays on a fairly heaving bass line and thins off the vocals. An interesting dischordant string has been re-sampled and placed interestingly to totally lose the light feel of the original and replace it with something a bit more tribal and sinister. Yousef really has reworked this effectively to produce a remix of a totally different feel. With all these elements adding to a nice darker sounding track the vocals that remain still seem a little incongruent but in a cheeky way.
The Porno Dub is moving further and further away from the original track into much heavier grounds. Definitely a more invading sound for peak time with a grinding, flanged out bass line and the vocals heavily filtered. The track certainly pounds away with only a brief breakdown to rest a dance floor but, ultimately, delivers a driving filtered punch strictly produced for charging dance floors. Although thumping with power, the track definitely borders on boringly under-produced at times.
The final remix featured in the triple pack is by MJ Cole. He certainly delivers, yet another, totally different remix of the original. Definitely bouncy and fun, his two-step break resides deep under a nice thick house beat with a sexy electronic bass line. The vocals have been cut up further to compliment the bouncy beats and move in and out of prominence for some sweet electronic melodies further into the track. It’s highly likely this remix will be overlooked by most buying a Tim Deluxe record unfortunately as it features some exquisitely refined cuts and breaks to make an intricately interesting remix.
