Vector 13 - Rise / Isis

  • Alan Thompson and Aidan Lavelle team up under the guise of Vector 13 to deliver the first release for new label Algorhythm. There has been plenty of hype around this label, with the first release getting a hammering by the big name DJ’s, Sasha on top of that list of course, for the good part of 2003. Well now the first release, consisting of two big room productions in Isis and the more known Rise, is finally set to hit shelves. The smooth rumbling effects trickle their way into the beginning of Isis. Soon enough, the chunky flowing broken beats of the production make their presence felt, as sounds and flow in and out of the arrangement. The production builds with subtle synth patterns bubbling underneath the beats and of course the dark Depeche Mode style vocals of Alan Thompson soon give this track a fantastic aura. Midway into the track, a more upbeat pattern of synths enter taking this track up another level to boiling point. The track breaks down in melodic style momentarily before it concludes with the beats in full effect. Don’t be fooled by the popularity of ‘Rise’ as the talking point of this release, as ‘Isis’ is just as impressive. The uplifting soundscape of Rise is what welcomes us on the flip. Many should know what this massive production is all about with Nick Warren and Sasha amongst others giving it a very good caning. Melodic sounds weave themselves amongst a cluttering of beats in the opening moments shortly before the track breaks down, and the vocals make their great impact accompanied by synth based strings in true dance floor style. The familiar melodic bells soon slowly conclude the production with the vocals and beats in unison. Truly massive. Isis (Instrumental) follows on this release for those that may prefer the musical aspects of the brilliant Isis. Retaining all the classic musical elements to the vocal mix, this is definitely a welcome addition to the debut release for Algorhythm. Algorhythm were always on to a winner with this release. What is fantastic though is the fact that Vector 13 didn’t rest on their laurels that they could have easily put out a strong release with ‘Rise’, but rather produced something just as impressive with the energetic ‘Isis’. The result for the debut release on Algorhythm is 2 lively productions that are sure to do the damage, as well as set the foundations for this promising label.
