- The next release out of Sound of Habib recordings comes from Random Source. It’s a two tracker release that has dancefloor mayhem written all over it.
First up is the very massive Big Stupid Grin. Smooth broken beats begin this production and soon enough a really devastating baseline grabs the track by the balls and gives it a real energy. Eerie effects ring around the track, before the production breaksdown seeing a fusion of electro sounds and effects. Once the beats come in its game over as the track really enters peak time. What is also quite interesting is the accapellas included at the end of the track, which I’m sure many will find amusing or be confused by.
Foo is up next and it also has a focus on the big rumbling baseline sounds. There are some nice funky interludes at the breakdown that continue into the guts of the track and help maintain the flow of the production. It’s smoother than Big Stupid grin and it compliments the release quite well.
It’s a pretty solid release for SOH with 2 really chunky breakbeat monsters, and a cheeky and amusing accapella on the end of side 1.
