  • Roger Case returns to Black & White Recordings under his Shanti guise to bring you two mixes of his latest production, Shapeshifter. The Main mix is first up and begins with some tribally inspired drum work and some deep and dark sounds and echoes. A baseline soon helps give the production some drive, but all in all, the track remains quite monotonous for the most part. Not to say Shanti hasn’t built quite a good loop, but the production clearly lacks the cutting edge that so many production shave these days. The Dub Mix on the flip I’m afraid to say retains the same formula. The drum loop is slightly modified with a focus more on the hats, while the production retains the sounds and effects from the main mix. The baseline is also modified, but it still lacks the killer touch to make it something special. A disappointing release from Black & White, with a release that when it comes to the punch, lacks a killer blow. But make sure for yourself though and check it out.
