  • INXS seems to be the target for dance cover versions nowadays, what with the Rogue Traders pulling off a hugely successful cover of Need You Tonight, destroying dancefloors the world over. The next victim, New Sensation, this time covered by The Guy Behind The Guy into a laidback lounge reworking. This cover really does the original tune no justice I'm afraid, especially with the male vocals not even coming close to matching Hutchence's performance on the original. I even remember watching them on TV as a kid perform this at the MTV music awards back in the late 80's, even my dad was impressed with the way they handled themselves. Guy Behind The Guy's version keeps true to the original rhythm and melody, however it just doesn't feel right as a laidback tune - it's really meant to be an uplifting rock tune. Contrary to what I said, big names such as Norman Jay are backing this tune with Mr. Jay noting that "It's been massive for him in the past three months especially in Australia".
