Side A. Original Mix
Herbgrinder is a phat slice of party b-boy breaks (gotta love those handclaps! - highly used but never played out in my opinion) floating along on a ragga bounce - very reminiscent of earlier Fingerlickin' releases like Freaky Jalapeno and Dreadzone. Plenty of sirens, hip hop vocal samples and old skool mayhem present in this tune and it should easily get the crowd jumping.
Side B. Drumattic Twins Remix
Drumattic Twins transform Herbgrinder into a bassed up nu-skooler for harder floors. More emphasis is placed on the vocal hook lacing the track and the phat bassline - so phat it can't help but wobble along!During the bridge, Drumattic revisit the ragga theme from the original momentarily before cutting back to the bassline madness. It sounds like Fingerlickin's take on Miami bass breaks and because I personally have a soft spot for the lower ends of the sound spectrum this is my favourite of the two.
It's a tune that's come out right in time for the Australian "breakbeat" summer and would cause massive dancefloor damage worldwide. Awesome!
