Tijuana – Groove Is In The Air (Low End Specialists Remix)

  • Groove Is In The Air by Tijuana is a track that definitely shouldn’t be underestimated amongst the star studded releases of the Bedrock 50 Anniversary line up. It’s a magnificent production that saw heavy remix work from the likes of FC Kahuna, Moonface and last but not least Simon Pearson. It is indeed that last remix from Simon Pearson that gave the track its biggest impact when it appeared on John Digweed’s Global Underground from Los Angeles. The beautiful sweeping sounds and filtered vocal line of ‘Groove Is In The Air’ made it one of the highlight tracks in that mix, and indeed a highlight release in the Bedrock catalogue. In this special release, US Producers Low End Specialists get their chance to shine in the sun again after their impressive reworking of Steve Lawler’s ‘Andante’. What they deliver may be the least obvious in terms of ‘anthemic’ material of the 4 ‘50’ releases, but it certainly is impressive. The familiar vocal sample remains throughout the productions, but the LES boys give it their trademark deep and low-end sounds that give the track a great groove in this mix. Sharp arpeggiated riffs also give the track a cutting edge for the most part, while the baseline keeps things progressing nicely. The Low End Specialists have definitely given this track the justice it deserved, but whether or not the mix is as impressive as the Simon Pearson mix or indeed that unreleased Moonface mix is up to you to decide. Nevertheless it’s a worthy addition to this special release for Bedrock, and one that shouldn’t go unnoticed.
