First up is Oyster Crackers. A feature of this production which you will notice from the word go, is the intense nature of the high end sounds. The drums and intense action of the high hats create a symphony of acoustic sound, which is nicely complimented by the driving baseline that lies underneath all the drums. Quirky little sounds and bouncy effects feature throughout creating a pretty solid outing in Oyster Crackers.
Alphabet Soup on the b side is not as intense as its brother on the flip, but it must be said it is a little more interesting. The drums are again worked to high levels of activity, but it’s the silky smooth baseline that rides an interesting pattern throughout as well as the use of sound effects that work the magic in this track.
Both tracks are not as melodic as recent production are that have yielded the Steve Porter name, but nevertheless they have plenty of groove thanks to the solid baselines, and for those that like drums and acoustic influences in the tracks, then this will definitely appeal.
