Jono Fernandez & Luke Chable – Come to Me

  • This release on Screen Recordings comes from two very talented Australian producers. I really need not mention the credentials that Luke Chable has to his name, as well as his partner in crime for this release, Jono Fernandez. The 2 Melbourne lads team up to bring Come To Me to life, and US DJ and Producer Chris Fortier gets in on the act with a quality remix on the flip. The Original Mix for me isn’t up to the standard you would expect from these two lads. Not to say it’s a bad track, far from it, it is that with these two together you are expecting something a little bit special. The track is quite solid, with smooth baselines and subtle atmospheric effects featuring for the first half, until it hits a beautiful breakdown midway in. The lovely vocal elements of the breakdown then unite into the main body of the track resulting in quite a solid production. It’s perhaps not as solid as the Chris Fortier Remix on the flip though. What is quite lovely about this remix is that it is quite simple, but beautifully straight to the point. Solid kick drums begin proceedings, and soon enough we are into the main loop of the track, a beautiful set of stunning vocal chords, heavenly melodies and a cheeky baseline underneath it all. It is a very retrospective mix this, definitely sounding like it was made in the epic mid 90’s era of progressive. Although it is quite similar throughout, I am very much of the opinion that sometimes a track doesn’t need to change throughout if it is working. For me this release is very much made by the Fortier remix, an uplifting piece of work that compliments the pretty chunky a-side.
