- The debut release on Vinyl vice Records comes from Innashift and it features the vocals of Anita Kelsey. The track that will start the ball rolling for this new imprint is The Unknown, and it comes with a remix from Innate Vs Kenny Shifter.
The Original mix on the a-side begins with some crisp drums and some vibrant hats. A melodic synth soon gets itself into the action shortly before the smooth and delicate vocals of Anita kick into the track. The flow of the track is quite good, and the sounds that work around the vocals are quite vibrant and energetic. All in all it’s a pretty solid progressive cut.
The Innate Vs Kenny Shifter Dub gets a run on the flipside and for me it’s a little too similar to the original mix on the a-side. The beats are again crisp, but with this mix stripped of the vocal and some of the synth loops that featured in the a-side, it somewhat lacks conviction. Promising in parts but not earth shattering as a whole.
Not a bad release from Vinyl Vice and hopefully a sign of better things to come for this new imprint.
