Inhouse Perspectives Vol 2 mixed by Andy Caldwell

  • It's back to San Fran via England's Buckinghamshire for Andy Caldwell, taking up the baton for the second of the In House Perspectives series. Inspirit Music knew what they were doing recruiting this man, his quality house beats will do much for their credibility! Caldwell eases into a funky West Coast groove with the "just a feelin" hooks of The Streaks, before the first of two good productions from The Beard. 'Close To Me' and 'Keep Hoping' both feature Amma and are retouched by Caldwell, sounding mighty fine. Then it's his own collaboration with Jay J, 'Give A Little' one of the finest vocal housers currently around and presented here in dub form. Caldwell introduces more tribal elements to the mix through Salif Keita, then heads for another of his own, Omega urging her man to "hurry, hurry don't be late". Warmer sounds dominate Demarkus Lewis' track 'Make It Mellow', then San Fran's own Kaskade delivers an excellent track in 'True', with a feather light vocal leading into the tougher final track and part two from The Beard. This is a solid and dependable mix from Caldwell, showing just how much life there is in West Coast house music at the moment. He keeps the music ticking over but knows exactly when to introduce a bit of flair or a quality vocal. And quality vocals are what make this disc well worth hearing.
