Stripped Inc – Chrome

  • After Gary Dubbs pretty impressive release on Coldtap Recordings, the label returns with another pretty solid release from Stripped Inc. Chrome has already seen strong support, namely from James Zabiela who gave the b-side a bash on his recent Essential Mix. First up is The Lucy Road 1:59am Lights Out Dub, and this is the more intense side of the two. An upbeat tech-house cut with a solid baseline that is pretty subtle underneath, the track is quite minimal throughout, using some quirky sounds and effects for the most part. Quite solid, but not as impressive as the mix on the flip. That mix is the New Bass Edit (as played by Zabiela on the EM). The upbeat drums begin the production, but soon enough the main feature, that being the big driving baseline, is soon introduced. From this point on it is clear to see why it is big with the young DJ from Southampton. Nice effects and quirky sounds float in and out of the track, accompanying the big low end mood of the production. The breakdown towards the end is quite intriguing too, adding to the quality of this production. It seems as if there is a never ending flow of solid releases lately, and this is yet another one of them. The b-side is where it’s at for me, and this release worthy enough based on that one side alone. A-side isn’t bad either!
