  • Compilations are not exactly far and few between these day's with releases, re-mixes, certain mix etc. I have found that some do make for a great CD, worthy of retiring to your collection. One such compilation is Paris Lounge 4 from the City Lounge collection that continues to grow with the release of there fourth CD sampler. With 12 tracks on Paris Lounge 4, six of them Paris by day and the remaining Paris by night, splits the compilation into two with "Day" falling between electronic - pop, folk music and the "night" sounding as a French night out should, crisp, catchy and bold. Originating off the Wagram label out of France, the sampler makes for an engaging addition to the series. Emerging out of the "day" Dysh & Oscar serve up a quirky tune with some LP crackle and violin strings, synth stabs and squelches, synonymous with the French sound. Metropolitan Jazz Affair couples clarinet and sax stabs with lucent drumming headed up with a curious bell beat. Stand out tracks for me include the slow going squishy bass driven track from Genral Electrics Feat. Lateef the truth speaker which for me is a wonderful addition, I couldn't help but think of Beck fused with the prominent French traits of filtered beats and crisp production, smooth as it is funk the crossover styles fuse well. Consisting of many prestigious French artists (Genral Electrics, Julien Baer, AlexKid) and adding some new French talent, incorporating them together makes for a fantastic French braid of music well worth listening to. Transverse into "Paris by night" the flipside delivers some fresh funky house tunes worthy of a release on its own. Mixed from here on in Dj Gregory Kicks of the night delivering a house fuelled track, great guitar licks changing the flavour and time of day. Franck Roger plates up a smooth electro-house tune, bleeps and beeps included and takes the mix in a favourable direction into Oscara darker track with spinning sampler effects and a soft female vocals. The harder edge of Klanguage toughens up the vibe without going in the familiar electro-clash stray we often see.Backed up by lullabies Feat Karine keeps on line giving the Parisian feel of minimal electro, cold vocals and efficient beat. Wrapping up the CD, Alekid Feat Lissette Alea raunchy remix by Llorca deals out a lengthy disco blow entailing a capital selection of tracks, well received and enjoyed
