Spitloop – Hyper Hyper

  • MusicDownstairs, the Dublin based Breaks label, return for their second release on their newly formed label, and they enroll the works of Spitloop. On the a-side is the original mix of Hyper Hyper, and on the flip is the Databass Mix, both combining to create some electro breakbeat mayhem. The Original Mix is quite an upbeat track from the word go. Electro synths roll from the outset as a nice crisp breakbeat pattern accompanies the track, building the arrangement for the first half. The electro synths soon start to change shape and gain intensity as the track progresses, all while retro rave like vocal samples are scattered throughout. The Databass Mix on the flip is certainly a lot tougher then the a-side. The drums are a little more offbeat and the baseline a lot deeper and chunkier. In fact the baseline in this mix really dominates the production as it rumbles along quite heavily throughout. Not a bad release by the Dublin label, but perhaps it’s been heard all before.
