Ouvi Melhor - Odiumosis

  • Sydney based due Brent "Quincy" Buchanan and Ben "D-Velvet" White make up Ouvi Melour (Ooo-vee Mell-or).A combination of Ben's skills with a string of independent hip hop releases and Brent's crafty work in the studio, they dish up Odiumosis a downbeat, diverse mix of ambient electronica. A long take of string laden, cross over, beats with no specific influence of style makes for a dark and unique independent release under the Falcon St Beats label. First single released Delicate Blue Thunder takes to smooth rolling beats, dark sliding Chello with collaborations from vocalist Bonnie Graham (RDO) whom makes a great accompaniment to the brooding vibe throughout. Sliding her voice through to Anymore a smooth transition and another track later. With percussive steps and turns waaiting has unusual vocal stabs from a mysterious chap and a synth tune that rides constantly throughout the track. Introducing Cmv II turns out a more industrial feel than at the start, moving on a more dark side of the breaks, a definite Fsard contribution. An instrumental addition of cascading guitar effects (Matt Strong), subtle vinyl cuts Fire in the whole pushes out the static feel and rolling beat replaces the trip hop direction taken so far. Wrapping up the album is Delicate Blue Thunder Remix, stripping the originals feel of a sharper edge, the last track seems to sum up that the duo's direction could of gone heading alternatively in an instrumental "live" feel that shines out towards the end of the CD. The feeling that rumbles to the end is that they made an album to share with the listeners their interpretation of a well produced and conspired album. Just goes to show the abundance of local talent residing in Sydney. 1. Delicate Blue Thunder 2. Anymore 3. iisa 4. Waating 5. Introducing cvm II 6. If you ever found my handbook 7.
