Kung Fu Rodriguez – Move / Sped

  • Mike Hiritzka and Jim Ramer unite under the moniker of Kung Fu Rodriguez to bring you two upbeat productions on the Convert imprint. Mike in particular has had a recent release on Alternative Route which was quite tasty, and a release on Propulsion which wasn’t quite as good for me. It is quite interesting to see what he can deliver with Jim with this release. First up on the a-side is a pounding energetic cut called Move. I must say I quite like this track. The baseline rumbles for most part, and the beats continue to flow at a nice upbeat pace as well. Subtle effects also unite nicely with delicate vocal samples, but it is the sheer grittiness of the beats combined with the base rumbles that impress in this production. Sped on the flip is not quite as intense but it is definitely just as good. Although not as upbeat as the a-side, this production does have quite a good flow to it, and yet again the baseline is quite impressive. Nice acidic riffs trickle into the production giving the track a slightly more twisted outlook, and on the whole, the track is another nice little achievement. A pretty good release here by the Kung Fu Rodriguez duo, and a welcome return to form for Mike in particular, after the not quite as impressive release on Propulsion.
