Max Graham - Coastline

  • Max Graham’s own label, Shinemusic, has just recently started up with the first release coming from Max himself. 'Coastline' was almost lost to the vinyl gods, but with every good record comes a good release. This is Max’s first release in almost two years. The club mix is a relentless, techno affair plus the goodness of hypnotic trance. There is no doubting the effect this track can have on a dance floor as the mix, after a nice mellow breakdown, is unleashed with ribbing baselines, aggressive hooks and pounding drums. The main breakdown introduces a titillating female vocal with atmospheric samples and light percussion elements while all sounds are tuned out to give way for a gorgeous melody. The beats come back in but the uplifting melody remains, giving this mix almost two faces, techno to trance. Very Good. Flipping over to the dub mix, the minimal side is brought out as Max tantalises the senses once again for the lovers of techno. The melodic, uplifting breakdown is toned down to the light percussion and vocal, providing that tougher edge. Good B-side. There is no doubting what Max Graham can achieve in his solo productions. This release has put his new label directly on the map.
