The Randall Jones PunkRock Mix features many elements from that devastating dub on the first disc, The nice driving baseline remains and many of the beat patterns are the same, however the vocal makes its full presence in this remix, and as such has a strong impact on the arrangement of the production. For me the vocal is not that impressive, so it is a strong reason why this Randall mix doesn’t appeal as much as the Dub. For lovers of the vocal by Queen V, this is the mix for you!
The Randall Jones Tripapella follows this with the vocals and effects combining to create a solid accapella for the creative DJ’s.
On the flip is an impressive retouch on the original in James & Gaby’s Up-Dub. This for me is more impressive then the original mix which was quite good in its own right. The main melodic analogue hook is stripped from this remix as it turns into a deep and dark stormer from the duo. The baseline is driving, and the effects and filtered touches of the vocal make this a nice dance floor option. Very quirky and definitely called for!
Not a bad disc this one in addition to the nice first disc. The Randall Jones mix is for the vocal fans while the dub on the b-side is another healthy addition to this already strong release.
