Edo G. & Masta Ace - Make Some Noise

  • The latest release from LA based hip hop imprint Glow In The Dark records is a label showcase of their own signings and headlined by a meeting of two old skool hip hop greats Edo G and Masta Ace. Edo G & Masta Ace - Make Some Noise Make Some Noise takes the listener from the loungeroom to the front row of a live hip hop jam with crowd noises and live MC vocals from DJ Curty Cut who introduces both Edo G and Masta on this joint. On top of a funky Hammond riff, both MC's spit it old skool style dropping party style, feel good rhymes. Jahpan - The Hustle Shuffle A new MC who has featured on Time Machine's solid debut album, The Hustle Shuffle is Jahpan's debut release. Kicking off with an old soul sample, the tune goes straight into a jazzy piano loop and percussive beat while Jahpan delivers his robust vocals with ragga vocals courtesy of Prince Fire. Time Machine - The Wiggle The Wiggle opens up with an old hip hop sample which then becomes the basis for the chorus to the track. It's a feel good hip hop cut with MC's Jaysonic and Comel giving up the hands in the air style rhymes on top of a blues/soul guitar and drum loop. Shawn Jackson - Dream Come True Another new signing to Glow In The Dark, Shawn Jackson gives us a sample of his style on Dream Come True which gets its name from the soul sample which makes up the chorus. Probably the deepest and mellowest cut on this EP, Dream Come True shows off Shawn's ability to deliver diss raps combined with intelligent lyricism. All four tracks are produced by Time Machine's DJ Mekalek who demonstrates his versatility on this EP being able to produce block party beats and deep hip hop joints as well as scratch with the best of them. Flip this 12" over for 4 instrumental versions, one for each track. Personally my pick on this is Edo G and Masta Ace's but there should be something here for the discerning hip hop pallette.
