Amandra - Principe De Veracruz

  • Tikita doesn't want to be known for a particular style, place or moment in time. So far, it has released reissues from Japan's Stratosphere Records alongside new works from artists like Artefakt, DJ Nobu and natural/electronic.system. Tikita's music connects body with mind, and the French artist Amandra's bewitching soundscapes on Principe De Veracruz are a great example of this. Take "Quatre Heroica," which expands with warm air and rises towards the heavens as snaking percussion weaves below. The rest of the EP is just as good. "Autochtone" is bubbly, as though it's submerged while trawling through azure waters. Morose synths tarnish "Risque Papantla" with a sadness that is livened with shuffling tribal rhythms. The title track makes a haunting first impression that's difficult to shake loose. It will keep you coming back again and again.
