- "Botanical Dub," "Evaporation," "Lake Bottom," "Forest Of Old Cloth"—the track titles from 7FO's Water Falls Into A Blank cassette evoked wet and leafy climates. The music followed suit, its soupy cocktails of dreamy dub and DIY pop suggesting rainforest dioramas dripping with humidity. The Osaka producer remains an elusive figure. That cassette, released in a limited run on RVNG Intl. last year, is now followed by an almost-as-low-profile 7-inch for Bokeh Versions. The music is as lush as ever, and not to be ignored.
Water, once again, is the theme. "Water Vapour," featuring contributions from the Berlin duo Sea Urchin, is a four-minute mist of splashy reverb effects, tinkling synth-toms and rich guitar. "Quiet Flash" takes a fractionally firmer form, thanks to a gentle bassline and the hint of an aquatic dub groove. Backmasked chord daubs ripple and build to a surprisingly dramatic finish.
