  • It was with great expectation that we arrived at Gas on Saturday night. Not only because this was the Transmission after party which guaranteed loads of already happy and enthusiastic punters, but because the legendary Dutch DJ and producer Marco V was headlining!! Being one of the most in-demand producers of the moment we were assured of a HUGE night ahead! Marco’s production partner Benjamin Bates was laying down some progressive trance anthems as we descended the staircase. He was not billed to play on the night so it was a great surprise and extra bonus for those in attendance! He warmed the crowd up nicely and there was barely room on the dance floor when Marco took over at 2.30am. To the delight of the crowd, Marco V let rip with the trademark tech-trance sounds he has become synonymous with. He delivered many a classic and mixed it up with some tribal beats and vocal, euphoric trance interludes to a full and appreciative house. Marco danced the night away behind the decks and it was clear that he was truly enjoying this set! He is definitely a DJ that loves his job and why wouldn’t he?? He is in demand all over the world and anyone present on Saturday night could see why! Marco V gave the punters a real treat when he dropped his latest production ‘Automanual’ into the mix and sent the dance floor into a frenzy! Every hand was raised in admiration as Marco took them on a journey through all things trance. Adding some electro beats and big driving bass lines, he funked it up throughout the set. His brilliant ability to break it down and build it up again blew the crowd away! Marco surprised us all with a bootleg of the Black Eyed Peas ‘Shut Up’ which although unexpected, went down a storm! But one of the highlights of the night had to be the Marco V v Bates remix of the Kill Bill theme – ‘Bang Bang’. The man threw everything at his crowd and they were up for it all! As I had hoped, Marco played many of his own productions including ‘Atlanta’, an oldie but a goodie, and ended his set with the magnificent ‘Godd’. Now this is what the punters had come to hear!! Marco also succeeded in mixing in many of the classic trance anthems that the Aussie crowds so love, like the Heater Pimps remix of the ‘Dreamsweeper’ and the fantastic ‘Adagio for Strings’. It’s always great to hear an old fave and the crowd seemed to be very appreciative indeed! Marco V is a true Master of the decks, with his seamless mixing and fantastic track selection he kept the dance floor packed and pumping till 5am! It was great to see a DJ that took the time to shake hands with his fans and sign people’s shirts when he had finished his set. Although leaving the stage became an obstacle course of punters coming up to congratulate him on his amazing set!! With a Judge Jules remix of ‘Loops & Tings’ due for release later this year and an Essential Mix scheduled for October 10th on the UK’s leading radio station - Radio 1, its clear that Marco V is a true talent who is bound to be around for sometime to come!
