A little-known Berlin artist launches Marcel Dettmann's new label with four gritty techno and electro tracks.
The task of freshening things up falls to Exterminador, a little-known Berlin artist, real name Mario Resta, who has a couple of extremely solid electro EPs to his name. BAD MANNERS 2 (a confusing title for a label's first release) leads with a super effective electro cut, "Bleeding From Inside," but then swerves into techno and a club sound closer to EBM. Nothing hits quite as hard as "Bleeding From Inside," but Resta shows plenty of grit and spirit. "Pericos," a techno track, crackles with a warped energy but is slightly let down by a harsh hi-hat that sits too high in the mix. "Scattered Remains" is the pick of the two '80s-influenced cuts thanks to its deranged assembly of synths, drum machines and speech samples. Resta's salty style here feels like the middle finger BAD MANNERS needed to get things moving.
