- My Blue Horizon is the latest release from Sydney's James Greville, a producer who also runs Mad Habitat Recordings. His latest EP was made after a period spent travelling across Europe, mostly in southern France. The result is an ambient record that shifts through several moods. Overall, it's a soothing, calm listen. In most tracks, pads act as the concrete musical ground while synth melodies linger. Although tracks like "Puff" feel shallow, others, like "Nibble," compensate. With rhythmic plucks and whimsical synth lines, some moments here recall the work of Mort Garson. Greville has a great ear for synth melodies—let's hope his next record gives them the focus they deserve.
