When Steve Martinez was in school, the other kids mocked him for listening to Louie Vega mixes. These days, he and his brother are making tracks with the soulful house don. "Let It Go," featuring the US singer-songwriter Marc E. Bassy, is their third and strongest collaboration yet. In fact, it might be the best track The Martinez Brothers have released since ""H 2 Da Izzo"" in 2012.
A nod to the trio's Puerto Rican roots (the artwork is by celebrated Puerto Rican graffiti artist Lee Quiñones), it's house music with a capital H, the kind of track the Bronx brothers would've played as teenage prodigies. Bassy, who has written tunes for Wiz Khalifa and Sean Kingston, is catchy and smooth over the percussive beat, his indecipherable musings and mutterings adding extra funk to the buttery chords.
