- Gritty club tracks that could start a mosh pit.
- There's lots of talk about the crossover between noise and techno, but there are few functional dance tracks that harness the brutal catharsis of noise. With his new 12-inch, DJ Richard joins this rarified class. Speaking with Truants, the Philadelphia-based producer said his "ear for how I want my production to sound has become much [more] finely tuned and on the EP it really crystallized." Indeed, Eraser feels like a milestone within an intriguing catalog.
There are two peak-time cuts interspersed with two slow tracks. The grimy, crawling material hits hardest. On "Critical Damage," Richard combines the sublime ambient he explored on his last album with rowdy, 90-BPM beats that could have appeared on Godflesh's Streetcleaner. It'll stand out within a set. Hell, it might even start a mosh pit.
