Raw, touching techno from the thriving scene in Washington, DC.
Jett Chandon - Julia EP Washington, DC has an active techno scene, with enough local DJs and artists to hold up against other major cities. People like Tara Algios, AKA Jett Chandon, keep that scene running. A resident at the roving warehouse party ROAM, her debut EP for the Brooklyn label Kontainer gives her a chance to strike outside of the city. Julia is a varied techno record, but the best track is the electro-tinged "Flutter," which is raw and ready for big rooms. It's a roller with plenty of reverb and massive low-end, but those eerie foghorns make it epic, twitchy and nervous. In a world full of menacing techno, it's nice to hear a different perspective.
